DFB sports court award match in favor of Bochum

The DFB sports court has awarded the Bundesliga match between Union Berlin versus Bochum to Bochum’s favor because of the firelighter incident.

According to the judge, Stephan Osterholz, Bochum certified the goalkeeper as having “limited match fitness,” after the firelighter hit the goalkeeper. “This resulted in a weakening of the Bochum team, which was triggered by a Berlin spectator and is therefore attributable to Union Berlin according to the DFB’s legal and procedural regulations.” He said.

Union Berlin plan to appeal against the decision

Union Berlin vehemently opposes the decision of the sports court and plans to appeal against the decision. Stating that the verdict harms football enormously.
